Workers’ Opposition

Around 1920, Workers’ Opposition formed within the Bolshevistic CPSU. This organisation was a left-wing current that Lenin fought against as a “deviation”.

Worker’s Opposition was unable to enforce its political line, but it invoked “workers” democracy’ and active involvement by the proletarian masses. Furthermore, it promoted the struggle against the rule of bureaucracy and was against the principle of administrative steering “from above”. Important representatives include Alexandra Kollontai and Alexander Schljapnikov.
